Safari introduces adaptive dark mode

Title “Introducing Adaptive Dark Mode” beside the WebKit compass icon, above two Safari windows showing the same ArdenGo transit site in light and dark versions.

The WebKit team presents a 27.3 beta feature that shows light websites as dark when the system is in dark mode. Sites with color-scheme: light dark are left alone. Others get luminosity inverted with hue preserved, text contrast kept at 4.5:1, and simple logos and SVG icons adjusted. To opt out, use color-scheme: light only. Better yet, build real dark mode with prefers-color-scheme and light-dark().
